Thank you for supporting Cornerstone Presbyterian Church by offering your time and talents! We have a whole lot of groups to volunteer for, and you can see those directly below. However, if you’re sure you want to help, but aren’t sure how, or just want to fill an area of need, contact us! Providing us with a list of skills that you can offer will help us slot you into a volunteer group that makes sense for you.

The function of the Buildings & Grounds Team is the care and maintenance of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church campus and buildings. Our vision is to always follow proper procedures that ensure the responsible stewardship of the beautiful grounds and facility that God has provided us.
Members of Buildings & Grounds Team perform landscaping tasks and maintenance of the church buildings and the rental property we lease out to tenants. Other areas of responsibility include tasks that are necessary to keep the buildings in compliance with local and state regulations. Buildings & Grounds Team meetings are convened on an as-needed basis.
We have various ongoing work projects throughout the year. We meet every Saturday during the Spring and Summer months at 9:00 AM for “Lovin’ The Lawn,” but this can change in the Fall and Winter depending on the weather. However, every fall we have a major half day for cleanup. The Rock Church, who uses our facility for their weekly worship, assists us in this endeavor.
This is all volunteer work, so we gladly welcome anyone who would like to lend a helping hand.

Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Our Children’s Sunday School is a welcoming environment where kids can learn about how God loves them, and how to have a personal relationship with Him. Visual aids, craft activities, storytelling, play, and Bible reading are ways we engage with children. We separate kids into two classes: preschool for ages 1 to 5, or elementary for ages 6 to 12.
If you have a passion for taking care of children and helping them grow in Christ, or if you have questions about bringing your own kids along, contact us!
COVID-19 announcement: During this time, Homework Club meets Wednesday at 6 p.m. using ZOOM. If you are interested in receiving tutoring for your homework, please contact Pastor Jen at pastor@cornerstonepres.net and she will get you connected to the ZOOM “join this meeting” link.

Cornerstone Presbyterian Church collaborates with local non-profit organizations to put our faith into action. The Mission Action Team makes recommendations to Session concerning local missions. Cornerstone provides financial support to various organizations including Olympia Union Gospel Mission, Thurston County Food Bank, Young Life of Olympia, and Hagar’s Community Church at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor. Other Mission Action Team activities have included a youth Homework Club, and providing encouragement through cards and treats to employees of Providence St. Peter Hospital during the Covid pandemic.

The vision of our Music & Worship Team is to create an environment that inspires all to worship through spirit filled song, scripture readings, prayer, and meditation. They are a talented group of individuals who serve with a joyful heart and strive to bring meaningful worship to Cornerstone. In our planning meetings, we make an effort to reach out to all age groups for participation in worship and prepare relevant themes and songs so that Sunday mornings are truly an uplifting and cohesive experience.
We sing Christian praise music and traditional hymns with a contemporary style that focuses on guitars and drums. For all of us on the team, it is a blessing to be able to worship through the expression of music. Join us if you have a voice to lend or an instrument to play!

At Cornerstone, we feel strongly that we can do what we can to help the homeless in the community of Olympia. As such, we volunteer at the Union Gospel Mission once a month in an event known as “Taco Monday.” Together, we feed those in need with 30 pounds of ground beef, 5 pounds of rice, 6 gallons beans, 5 pounds of cheese, 10 pounds of onions, a gallon of salsa, way too much lettuce, and roughly 300 taco shells! As you can imagine, this is quite an undertaking, and requires between 6 to 10 people to prepare and serve! We always need more volunteers, so come join us in this meaningful endeavor.

Our youth enjoy attending Young Life and Pastor Jen is a volunteer with Young Life of Greater Olympia (YLGO) serving students at Capital High School. Young Life meets on Pod A every second and fourth Monday at 7 p.m. Young Life is an amazing time of connecting with your friends, making new friends, playing games, having food, and one of the adult leaders shares a brief message.
Campaigners is where students explore the Bible and their faith understanding. Campaigner groups meet at various times during the week. Pastor Jen can help you get connected with a Campaigners group.
Camp Malibu in Canada is where Young Life students go to hang with their friends, be engaged in activities, explore, grow, and share all the questions and ideas they have about their faith for one week every summer. The dates for 2020 are July 27-August 2.

We do not currently accept online or electronic giving, due to the percentage fee that is associated with electronic transactions; we believe that 100% of your generous donation should go to where you intend. During the time of COVID-19, we encourage you to mail in your donations using checks to the church address.
If you would like to give an offering to support Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and its various ministries, you can do so in person with cash or check at one of our wooden Tithe & Offering boxes, located on the walls of the sanctuary during a Sunday service or other event.
